Prof. Gómez Elected to Board of Directors for The International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation

Prof. Jennifer M. Gómez from BU School of Social Work has been elected to The International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) board of directors. The ISSTD is a professional association dedicated to increasing education and resources on the effects of trauma and dissociation. The ISSTD offers training opportunities, professional training courses, and conferences for participants to increase their understanding on trauma and dissociation. The organization also offers grants and funding opportunities to researchers to advance clinical and scientific understanding of chronic trauma and dissociation. 

Prof. Gómez has been involved with the ISSTD since 2011 as a Journal of Trauma & Dissociation (JTD) editorial board member, a member of the Scientific Committee, a member of the Annual Conference Committee, and guest co-editor of the JTD in 2015 and 2021, and she gave a plenary talk on cultural betrayal trauma theory at their 2021 annual conference. In addition to her expertise in trauma, dissociation, systems-level change, and diversity, equity, and inclusion, Gómez will draw on her board member experience at Jennifer Freyd’s Center for Institutional Courage to make meaningful contributions to ISSTD.
