Professor Rob Hudson Honored for 10 years of Editorship
BUSSW Professor Rob Hudson was honored at the 2006 Annual Meeting of the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) for having completed ten years as Editor of Public Policy & Aging Report, the quarterly publication of GSA’s National Academy on an Aging Society. The meeting was held in Dallas from November 16 to 20.
In addition to a broad-based subscription list, PP&AR is distributed widely in Washington, D.C., and to state capitals across the nation. A variety of aging policies and policy issues have been addressed in the publication. Among the topics are: Social Security and Medicare; the Employee Retirement Income Security Act and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act; older drivers; elder abuse and neglect; labor force participation trends; geriatric labor force shortages; and long-term care.
Hudson has attracted authors from across the professions, well-established figures from the academy and national policy positions, promising junior scholars, and front-line practitioners striving to make public policy work for older adults. The Tenth Anniversary issue contained congratulatory messages from a number of organizations, including the American Association of Retired Persons, the Employee Benefit Research Institute, the Alzheimer’s Association, the Council on Social Work Education’s Gero-Ed Center, and a number of universities, including BUSSW.
