About Dr. Carrie Landa
Dr. Carrie Landa is the Executive Director of Student Wellbeing at Boston University. Under the Provost’s office, her department works to create a campus environment that supports student’s growth, personally, interpersonally and professionally, highlighting the importance of wellbeing as a driver of student success. The office brings together multiple campus stakeholders to provide a truly integrated experience around wellbeing for a diverse student body. She provides campus wide and national trainings on the shared campus responsibility to support student mental health and wellbeing.
Prior to her promotion to Executive Director, Dr. Landa served as Boston University’s Associate Director of Student Health Services and the Director of Behavioral Medicine. In those roles she provided oversight and leadership to a multidisciplinary staff of psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists who provide mental health care to a community of over 33,000 students across multiple campuses. She oversaw all outreach and prevention to the University community, including liaising with other University departments to address clinical needs specific to unique populations, providing institutional training for staff and faculty about how to identify and support students in distress and manage mental health emergencies when they arise. Dr. Landa served as Chair of the University’s Mental Health Task Force and Chair of the University’s Medical Leave of Absence Return Committee, in addition to being an active member of the CARE and Threat teams, and the committee tasked to assess campus climate regarding sexual violence and safety and a member of University’s risk management committee, working to mitigate risks related to student’s safety and wellbeing. She was an inaugural member of the University’s Anti-Racism Working Group and a member of the Medical Advisory Group tasked with informing the campuses COVID response.
She received her undergraduate degree in psychology and family studies from the University of New Hampshire and her Masters and Doctorate in clinical psychology at Suffolk University, where she trained as a child and adult psychologist.
